I can’t say enough positive things about The Clinic and about my Chiropractor, Dr. Chad Zimmerman.
We believe that chiropractic care is important to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Let the doctors at The Clinic be the catalyst to help you reach your health and activity goals! If you have any questions regarding our services, please contact our doctors or administrative staff!
The chiropractic profession dates back to 1895 and has been increasing the number of patients helped ever since. It is a unique healthcare service that diagnoses and treats conditions based on how they are related to the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Common conditions treated would include, but are not limited to neck pain, low back pain, foot and ankle injuries, headaches, and shoulder pain/injuries. Doctors of chiropractic use what is called the “chiropractic adjustment”, or “joint manipulation” to restore motion in dysfunctional joints. Often times these dysfunctional areas cause pain, however this isn’t always the case. Dysfunctional joints without pain can create just as many problems throughout the body as painful areas!
Here at The Clinic, we focus on family healthcare and specialize in sports chiropractic. We have certified chiropractic sports physicians on staff to not only address the athlete’s complaints, but also take their performance to the next level while preventing future injury. The clinicians use many different techniques and therapies such as adjusting techniques, Graston Technique, Acupuncture, rehabilitation exercises, and manual muscle techniques to improve the overall movement and function of the patient. That being said, you don’t have to be a two time world champion to be cared for in our clinic. Whether it be bending over to pick up your child, competing for a gold medal, or simply wanting to walk a quarter mile, it is all about the same concept….Consistent, High Quality movement!
Graston Technique uses metal instruments to detect these adhesions by gliding over the soft tissue. When scar tissue is encountered, both the clinician and the patient will feel a restriction, similar to a “speed bump” or gritty feeling. The instrument is then used to “break up” this restriction or adhesion.
Graston Technique can be used to treat many different injuries and conditions including, but not limited to:
tennis elbow
patellar and achilles pain/tendonitis
carpal tunnel syndrome
rotator cuff injuries
sprains/strains
For more information on Graston Technique and its benefits, feel free to contact one of the doctors at The Clinic, or click on the link below to visit the Graston Technique website.
The purpose of Graston Technique is to detect and treat “scar tissue” or myofascial adhesions in muscles, tendons, and ligaments that can reduce joint range of motion and cause pain. These adhesions are typically due to repetitive stresses on a particular portion of the body and are created when the body attempts to rapidly repair the injured area. This can often lead to pain and dysfunction because the replacement tissue lacks strength and flexibility.
Acupuncture has become an integral part of alternative medicine within the last 15-20 years, even though it has been used for centuries. There is a large amount of history with acupuncture and its benefits, and the amount of patients utilizing this service to compliment their treatment is increasing.
Acupuncture has become a science that is not just about placing needles in the body. It is rather about diagnosing and treating the presenting issue or concern in the same fashion any other healthcare provider would. Very fine needles are used to improve the function of the energy channels and organ systems within the body. Acupuncture has been used to treat many conditions as a result of physical, mental, and emotional stressors. This includes conditions related to musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction (such as neck pain, low back pain, ankle sprains, shoulder pain, etc), infertility (male and female), fatigue, depression, anxiety, insomnia, menopause, and addiction, just to name a few.
If you are one of those people who “aren’t quite sure about needles,” you can be assured that our clinicians will be compassionate while walking you through each step of the process to make you feel as comfortable as possible! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact either of our two certified chiropractic acupuncturists within the office.
Kinesiology tape is designed to promote the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting range of motion. Kinesiology tape does not contain any medication. It can be used along with other treatments and therapies and is effective during the rehabilitation of an injury, as well as preventing future injury from occuring.
Rocktape is the specific brand used here at The Clinic. The tape, which has texture and elasticity properties similar to that of the human skin, was created in response to limitations encountered working with the classic rigid sports taping methods. It is wearable for days at a time and can be worn during physical activity and even during bathing. The tape comes in many different colors and patterns. All colors are designed to lift the skin slightly to allow drainage, provide an increase in blood flow, provide functional muscle support, and promote the healing process. For more information on Rocktape, feel free to contact a doctor at The Clinic, or visit the Rocktape website.
Kinesiology tape has been used in the field of sports performance, pain management, rehabilitation, and physical therapy for more than 25 years. You may seen it on professional athletes, as well as world-class athletes participating in the Olympic Games.
Not all patients are candidates for custom orthotics, but if you are, they can improve your active lifestyle! Here at The Clinic, we pride ourselves in helping our patients perform at the highest level possible.
Another piece of the puzzle is the balance, or imbalance, within the foot that affects the entire body every day. A well balanced foot and ankle provides stability within the hips and low back with each and every step you take, whether it be walking, running, or performing at an elite level. At The Clinic we use Mojo Feet orthotics which are widely considered the best in the industry.
Your Mojo Feet custom-made orthotics are designed to help you ‘get moving’ more comfortably and more efficiently. They are engineered to support the architectural structure of your feet and are customized to flex while you walk, making long days living on man-made surfaces more comfortable. For more information on custom orthotics, feel free to contact a doctor at The Clinic or visit The Mojo Feet website.
We currently use Innate Choice and Nutri-Dyn as our supplement suppliers. If you have any questions or concerns about supplements, please talk to one of our doctors or visit their websites.
Our doctors on staff are well educated and experienced with topics such as proper diet, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle guidance. They are more than willing to sit down with you and discuss any questions or concerns you may have with your diet and nutrition. This allows the doctors to provide nutritional recommendations to help you alleviate any conditions you are currently dealing with! This may include eliminating foods, taking a supplement, or simply changing the time of day in which you eat. All of these factors are important to view when looking at your lifestyle as a whole, and we can help you!!
Although our quality healthcare is important, it is equally important to maintain a healthy, well balanced diet. Today’s population is often swayed by advertisements and differing opinions on what is perceived to be “healthy” when in reality it may not be. This is where the proper education and guidance comes into play!
What is Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD)?
NSSD is a way of treating more complicated lower back pain. The spine has soft, spongy discs between the bones. These discs absorb a lot of stress and can tear. Unlike other tissues in the body, discs do not have blood supplies and they have a harder time healing once injured. Tissues require fluid and nutrients in order to heal. Damaged discs have a hard time absorbing fluid and nutrients and result in a condition called ‘degenerative disc disease’- a leading cause of back surgery. NSSD utilizes a form of traction to gently stretch the disc and tissues of the spine. It is believed that this helps to restore a pressure change in the disc that allows fluid and nutrients to move back into the disc and help the disc heal.
How can I know if a disc is causing my back pain?
Most patients experiencing disc pain will feel it when pressure on a disc increases, such as with bending, twisting or sitting. However, discs that have been bad for a long time may lead to pain when laying in bed or when twisting to get out of bed. Often people may experience ‘pinched nerves’ or ‘sciatica’ as a result of a damaged disc. This may result in pain that goes into the buttock, hip, leg, calf or foot. Other symptoms may include tingling, numbness, tightness or weakness in the buttock, leg or foot. Most people with disc problems have had a history of at least one event that resulted in sharp back pain and/or spasms in the lower back. Just one episode like that is all it takes to result in a bad disc. Over time, nerve endings grow through the damaged disc and pain becomes more frequent.
For more information on decompression and if you may be a candidate for this service, please contact a doctor at The Clinic and we will be happy to assist.
